Before installation make sure that your computer is running either Service Pack 1 or Service Pack 2 of Windows Vista. Install the 32-bit or 64-bit of Windows 7, which matches with your previous OS. Find out your 25-character product activation key.

Installation of Windows 7 is very simple. You have different options as, through Internet, Windows 7 installation disc, or USB flash drive. In each you get the option of setup.exe. You have to double click that file to run the installation wizard. After that, the setup runs automatically and you need to just follow the on-screen prompts. Make sure that you have entered the valid product activation key.

However, if you don’t have Windows Vista as a current OS, then judge your computer’s hardware configuration with the help of Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor, which is available on the Microsoft’s website. Follow the recommendation given to you. Once, your computer is ready to afford Windows 7, perform the clean installation. However, don’t forget to take back up of your entire programs and settings, so that you can retain them in future. For your convenience Microsoft has introduced Windows 7 Easy Transfer, which can smartly take the backup.

Clean installation procedure of Microsoft’s latest OS, is very much similar to the above upgrade, except, when prompted for “Type of Installation, you have to click on “Custom Install.”

After you have got the job done, you need to update your device driver, so that they don’t lose their functionality under the new environment of Windows 7.
